FAN SJSU's Inaugural Alumni Legacy Gala

Join FAN SJSU for our Inaugural Alumni Legacy Gala on Saturday, September 7, 2024, 5:30pm-9pm, as we uplift, connect, and celebrate generations of our SJSU Filipino alumni community. 

 

Together, we will honor alumni achievements, recognize student scholarship recipients, and induct alumni that have recently departed into FAN’s new Hall of Remembrance. Also joining us will be SJSU President, Cynthia Teniente-Matson, who will announce the start of our new Filipino American History Mural Project! Dinner and drinks will be provided.

 

This event is welcome to all loved ones and supporters who wish to connect with and celebrate our Filipino alumni community.

FAN SJSU’s Inaugural Career Day will be an exciting event featuring career panels and networking opportunities with alumni professionals from a variety of career paths.

 

This event is targeted to SJSU students and recent graduates, but alumni from all generations are welcome to participate! Attendees will gain valuable insights into different industries, learn from alumni experiences, and make meaningful professional connections.

Belinda Garcia-Maguid

Game Writer + Narrative Designer, Crystal Dynamics

Belinda Garcia-Maguid (she/her) is a Filipina-American writer born and raised in the Bay Area. As a video game writer and narrative designer, she is passionate about telling unique stories with genuine, diverse, women characters.

 

Currently, she works at Crystal Dynamics on the future of Tomb Raider and is most known for her work on games like Call of Duty: Vanguard and Flight School Studio's Stonefly. She resides in Oakland with her husband, two cats, and her overflowing stationery collection.

Do I have to be Filipino or a SJSU alumni to attend?

No, you do not have to be Filipino or an SJSU alumni to attend. Our community welcomes all that wish to celebrate and honor our SJSU Filipino community!
 

Is there a dress code for the event?

Semi-formal. Although not required, wearing traditional cultural attire like Filipiniana and Barong Tagalog is highly encouraged!

Will ticket prices change over time?

Yes! Ticket price windows can be found down below:

  • July 1 - August 4: Early Bird Ticket Sales

  • August 5 - September 7: General Ticket Sales

Will seating be assigned?

Seating will not be assigned. Seating placements will be available on a first come first served basis, so be sure to arrive early! Each table seats up to groups of 8.

EVENT BASICS

1. When and where is Career Day taking place? 

The FAN Career Day will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 12:00pm to 4:30pm at the San José State University SU Meeting Room 4.

TRANSPORTATION & PARKING

2. Is parking available for the event?

Yes, parking is available. However, parking will not be hosted, meaning all attendees have to pay for their own parking. The parking garage closest to the Student Union is the North Garage located at 65 S 10th St, San Jose.
