Kat Garcia ('21)

Events Director

Kat is a proud SJSU alumna, born and raised in the Bay Area. She graduated from SJSU in Spring 2021 with a B.A. in child and adolescent development, focusing on community, and a minor in recreational management. During her undergrad, she was active in Akbayan, serving as the community and political affairs chair for the 41st Cabinet and as internship coordinator for the 43rd.

Kat’s passion for community started before college. She’s volunteered with various schools, organizations, and her youth group, mentoring young people and dedicating herself to community service. Her love for education and event curation has led her to work with Project Pearls, SJSU iSchool, City of San Jose, Alum Rock's Counseling Center, and other event organizations. Currently, Kat works with Maritz Global Events at Google as an Event Manager and Venue Specialist. She dreams of one day founding a cultural nonprofit where children can explore their heritage through the arts.

In her free time, Kat enjoys spending time with loved ones, DIY projects, staying active, discovering new shows, cultural dancing, videography, and more! She enjoys trying new things and pushing her limits.

Kat’s also thrilled to continue working with FAN’s Board to help bring our alumni together.
