Vivian Bejarin ('06)

Board Member

Vivian Bejarin is graduate of Overfelt High School and San Jose Staté University. At SJSU, Vivian earned a bachelor’s in journalism and a master’s in communication studies. While at SJSU, she learned the importance of identity as she reconnected with her Filipino heritage through the Asian American Studies program. The mind-blowing lessons of those texts and theories inspired her to advocate for students who are still finding their own identities.

Vivian was heavily involved in community work in grad school with a Filipino club called Bagongbayan and the Filipino Memorial Project. For more than 15 years, she has taught English composition at De Anza College and is one of the advisors for Puso, De Anza’s Filipino student organization.

Throughout her career, Vivian has advocated for students on their academic journeys by working with the Lola Scholarship Fund, FAN’s Scholarship Committee, and De Anza’s Asian Pacific American Staff Association (APASA) Scholarship Committee.
