Alonso "Addie" Legaspi Reyes

2024 Hall of Remembrance [1983-2024]

Alonso “Addie” Legaspi Reyes Jr., born on May 3, 1983, in Daly City, California, was known for his vibrant presence and gentle kindness. From his early education at Holy Family School to his later years at Valley Christian High School, San Francisco State, De Anza College, and San Jose State University , Addie cultivated meaningful relationships with everyone he encountered, his smile and fun sense of humor making connections effortless.

A lifelong resident of San Jose, Addie was passionate about supporting the Bay Area's sports teams, especially the Warriors and the Sharks, and he actively engaged with his Filipino heritage through groups like Akbayan and events such as Philippine Cultural Night. He achieved a black belt in Taekwondo, held a strong fascination with Canada, and found joy in simple pleasures like watching WWE Wrestling and The Ninja Turtles, as well as reading Yelp reviews of restaurants with his mom. Addie's true passion lay in his relationships with family and friends. As a devoted son, cousin, nephew, uncle, godfather, and friend, he showered his loved ones with care and support, and particularly treasured his bond with his grandmother, whom he lovingly called the “Queen of Kalibo”, ending their phone calls with “Nahidlaw gid ako kimo” (which is Aklanon for “I miss you”).

Addie passed away peacefully on March 29, 2024, and was reunited with his father, Alonso “Alan” Reyes Sr., in heaven. In his final moments, he was honored with a Flag Raising and Honor Walk to celebrate his spirit as a donor, with friends and family gathering to commemorate his life. He is survived by his mother and best friend, Tess; his grandmother, Mama Estela; and his many Legaspi and Reyes relatives, all of whom love him dearly.
