My name is Kryssa Marie Labarda, and I was born and raised in Hayward, California. I am going into my junior year of college. My parents are from Makati and Bulacan, and growing up, as they both worked, my grandma took care of me. She is my most significant influence, instilling values of hard work, compassion, and resilience. These values have guided me throughout my life, and I continue my college journey as a nursing student here at The Valley Foundation School of Nursing (TVSON) at SJSU.

 

I am eternally grateful to have been awarded this scholarship. I want to continue to make my family proud and pursue my aspirations and dreams. I want to dedicate this award to my grandmother, parents, and not-so-baby brother. Thank you for always being beside me and teaching me the skills to flourish and thrive.
